Fibroma

What is a fibroma?

A fibroma is a benign tumor made up of fibrous connective tissue. Fibromas can develop in the mouth, on the skin, and under the skin of the groin, legs, or sides of your dog.

What will a fibroma look like in my dog?

An oral fibroma will appear as a firm growth on the gum surrounding a tooth. The growth will generally be the same color as your dog’s gums, and it will not be painful to your dog. A fibroma under the skin will feel like a lump or bump.

How does my dog get a fibroma?

It is not known how or why your dog may develop a fibroma.

How is a fibroma diagnosed?

Your vet will remove the tumor and perform a biopsy.

How is a fibroma treated?

Surgical removal is the preferred treatment for a fibroma.

How is a fibroma prevented?

It is not known how to prevent a fibroma from developing.

Can I get a fibroma from my dog?

No, you cannot get a fibroma from your dog.
