Although the Pug’s origins are not definitively known, it is thought that the breed originated in Asia where these dogs became prized companions for royalty. The breed then traveled to Europe where it again became a favorite of royals. Pugs became the official dog of The Netherland’s House of Orange and Napoleon’s wife was also a proud pug owner. Pugs weigh 14 to 18 pounds. Their smooth, short coats come in apricot-fawn, black, or silver. Pugs are charming, affectionate, and loving dogs. They are intelligent and curious, but sometimes can be a bit stubborn. Because of their pushed-in faces, Pugs snore, wheeze, and snort.
