Mastiff

Mastiffs, or Old English Mastiffs, are an ancient breed originally used by the British as dogs of war. Male Mastiffs should stand at least 30 inches at the shoulder. Female Mastiffs should stand at least 27.5 inches at the shoulder. Their relatively short coats come in apricot, brindle, and fawn. Though they are incredibly strong and brave when called upon to be, Mastiffs are generally laid-back, steady, and quiet dogs. Some Mastiffs, however, have been known either to be overly shy or overly aggressive to strangers and other animals. Early socialization and careful, constant, positive reinforcement are essential. Because of their prominent flews, Mastiffs are slobbers and droolers.
