German Shorthaired Pointer

German Shorthaired Pointers were developed, as their name suggests, in Germany most probably from German Bird dogs, German hounds, and, somewhat later, Pointers. Males should stand 23 to 25 inches at the shoulder, and they should weigh 55 to 70 pounds Females should stand 21 to 23 inches at the shoulder, and they should weigh 45 to 60 pounds. Their coats come in liver or liver and white. German Shorthaired Pointers are high energy dogs requiring a good deal of daily exercise to keep them happy and healthy. Bred to work with hunters, they form close bonds with their owners and are generally quite biddable.
