Chinese Shar-Pei

Chinese Shar-peis date back to at least 200 B.C. “Shar-Pei” means “sand-skin” and refers to the dogs' short and rough coats. Both male and females should stand 18 to 20 inches at the shoulder, and they should weigh 45 to 60 pounds. Their coats may come in sable or any solid color. Shar-Peis are independent, often aloof, dominant and fearless dogs. They are very loyal and confident, and are natural watchdogs. This breed requires a firm, experienced owner.
