Chihuahua

Chihuahuas were named after the Mexican state from which they originated. Neither males nor females should weigh over 6 pounds. Chihuahuas may be either smooth-coated or long-coated. Both coat varieties can come in any color or color combinations. Chihuahuas are curious, loyal dogs. Some Chihuahuas have a tendency to be high-strung or nervous, so socialization is very important with this breed. Many Chihuahuas seem to think they are actually big dogs, and, if provoked or scared, will defend themselves with a good deal of ferocity.
