The name Borzoi is derived from the Russian word for swift, and these elegants dogs are indeed one of the fastest breeds. Males should stand a minimum of 28 inches at the shoulder, and females should stand a minimum of 26 inches at the shoulder. Their coats come in all colors and color combinations. Like all sighthounds, Borzoi have a strong drive to chase small game. They are intelligent somewhat aloof dogs. Borzoi rarely bark and are quite sedentary indoors.
