Q:  What are the black spots developing on my Westie's back?

A:  Without examining your dog myself, I cannot tell you for sure what the black spots are. Normal pigment patches – flat and dark patches with no accompanying pain or itchiness – can develop on the skin and this is nothing to worry about. However, without seeing the spots myself I cannot tell you what they are, and recommend you have your dog’s vet give the spots a once over.
